Installing milter-greylist on centos4

  • Download and unpack the tarball, then cd into it
  • Install (from this site)
  • libspf2-1.2.5-3.i386.rpm
  • libspf2-1.2.5-3-devel.i386.rpm
  • libspf2-1.2.5-3-progs
  • ./configure --with-libspf2=/usr/lib --enable-dnsrbl
  • make
  • do a 'make install' or use 'checkinstall'
  • Copy the init script
  • Test

installing a package and not using the rpm system is calling for trouble.

I recommend always to create an rpm. For example here: http://centos4.centos.ec/i386/repodata/repoview/milter-greylist-0-3.0-5.html you will find milter-greylist packaged. Therefore upgrading it, or deleteing, even the install process will be easier.
